Bicycle Shops Directory - Karachi

I am going to start with used bicycle shops first as these will fit within the budget of majority. If you own a bicycle business in Karachi and want to be listed here, please leave a comment.

Used Bicycle Shops in Karachi
It is recommended to go there with someone experienced in purchasing used bicycles because these bicycles need to be checked thoroughly for component quality and condition. Bargain hard because the sellers ALWAYS demand higher than the actual worth.

Jackson Market:
Jackson Market is one of the oldest markets in Karachi, located near Kemari port. There are a few shops there which sell used / reconditioned imported bicycles. A few years ago, this was the only option for cyclists in Karachi.

  1. Hi,

I'm planning to buy a bicycle and recently come across a Chinese brand Phoenix at Metro departmental store, Gulshan. Does anybody know anything about this brand? Is it good to buy this cheap bike as a beginner?

    1. Hello Ammar.
No it is not a good bike to invest in. These cheap Chinese bikes become rusty & suffer from component breakdown in a few months. They are also heavy & not good for long distance riding. I have provided details on which bike to buy for starting off in my blog post https://www.pakistancyclingnetwork.com/2018/08/bicycle-sizing-and-shops-in-pakistan.html

    1. Hi. I can not help with the prices as I neither own nor have any affiliation with any of the shops listed. You can find contacts of shops listed in the post in the linked facebook pages. Click on the shop name to go there.

  3. Assalam o aliekum, I want to give my 11 Yr old son a robust bike. Previously I have been buying those new Chinese bikes but they spend more time in the workshop then road. I have limited budget, pls advise me a place where I can buy relatively reliable refurbished bikes.

    1. W'Salam. In limited budget, best option is Jackson Market for refurbished imported bicycles. Children grow out bicycle size fast so it is wise to look for pocket friendly, used bicycles as you may need to change it after a year, max tow years. Sellers generally have buy back option when you need to upgrade so make sure you check on that.

    1. Walaikum Assalam. Thanks for visiting my blog Faraz. You have not mentioned your city so I presume you want to know about shops in Karachi being on this blog page. New bicycles with warranty can be bought from Bikestan, Bike Concepts and Hotwheels/HSM. New bicycles costs a lot specially now a days after COVID as supply is low and demand is high all over the world. You can get new bikes from individual sellers too but there is usually no warranty. When you are spending a couple of lakh rupees on a new bike, it makes sense to get it under proper warranty.

However, your fitness does not depend on the bicycle being old or new. You are the engine and bicycle is just the ride. It is 80% you and 20% bike. Continental is a decent brand and you need to get it fixed from a good bicycle mechanic to tune it up properly. Naeem is best of the best...get your bike fixed from him, ride it for a couple of months and if you still want to upgrade, go ahead and visit any of the shops I have listed above. Here is the google map link to Naeem's shop (https://goo.gl/maps/qQ7z75LYQuEuMf6t8).
      Happy riding.

    1. You can start with any hybrid bicycle. Good brands to look for are Giant, Trek, Cannondale, Louis Garneau, Specialized, BMC to name a few. All shops and FB groups in Karachi known to me are listed above.
Whichever bike you choose, it should not be HEAVY. Lighter is better (your own weight does not matter). For hybrid, it should weigh somewhere between 12-15kg. And do not ignore the safety gear.
Feel free to ask anything else you need to know.

You can go for either a mountain bike (MTB) or a hybrid. Both can handle bad roads.
In your budget, Jackson Market is the only possibility.

Bicycle Sizing and Shops in Pakistan

After you have decided on the type of Bicycle you need (see our post on bicycle types if you haven't), bike size is the next most important aspect  to be determined. It's not that complicated... . you just need to know following two things: Bicycle Geometry Guide Bicycle Size or Frame Size is basically the seat tube length measured in inches (mountain bikes) or centimetres (road bikes & hybrids) Your height & leg length determines which size is suitable for you. There are many online bike size calculators available. ebicycles.com has a decent online sizing tool. Now that you know which type & size of bicycle to buy, it is time to head to the market. Although Lighthouse/Gari Khata market in Karachi & Neela Gumbad in Lahore are well known bicycle markets, typical products available there are usually low quality stuff with cheap, knockoff components. These cheapo bicycles start getting rusted in within months (especially in Karachi) and are n...

Types of Bicycles - Which one should I buy?

This may come as a surprise to many, but there are several types of bicycles in the world (for more info, check out this Wikipedia article ). However the basic types are few and easy to differentiate once you gain familiarity. The difference is generally in the geometry of the bicycle according to the type of riding intended. Therefore it is important to decide what type of riding do you intend to do (commuting, long distance, off-road etc.) before making a purchasing decision. For riding in Pakistan, following three basic bicycle types should cater to the majority of riding styles. Your decision would be based on your preference among speed, comfort and ability to ride on rough terrain (off-road). One bicycle cannot cater to all 3 parameters so there has to be a compromise...you have to prioritize among the three capabilities. Of course, if you can afford it, you CAN buy one or more of each type. 😉 A newcomer should start with a Hybrid bicycle. Road Bikes Road bikes (...
